Board of Directors

Cheryl Blasnek - Chairman of the Board

Cheryl Blasnek exercises her interests in two different venues. She is a business consultant, currently helping small businesses to grow and prosper in this “interesting” economy. Cheryl is also heavily involved in education as Director of Standardized Test Preparation for On-Track Tutoring and in her spare time, enjoys tutoring students in English, Spanish, History and standardized test preparation, such as the SAT, ACT and HSPT. Cheryl was eager to join TRRFCC Horsemanship as the Chairman of the Board, embracing the teaching of the 6 Pillars of Character through interaction with horses. Having been raised in Arizona, Cheryl spent much of her youth in the outdoors and with horses. She enjoyed participating this summer in the TRRFCC Horsemanship Summer Camp, serving as the Character Counts teacher and has been instrumental in the development of the curriculum to be used at Horseshoe Trails Elementary School during the schoolyear. Cheryl envisions a companion program one day using dogs, and has long been a dog trainer and was a puppy raiser for the Seeing Eye Dog Foundation. Cheryl’s other volunteer activities have included traveling as a translator to Guatemala with DOCARE, a medical group providing care to indigenous Guatemalans. Cheryl brings invaluable business and educational leadership to TRRFCC Horsemanship, guiding the growth of our organization for the in-school and after-school programs.

Jodi K. Scott - Program Director

Jodi is the proprietor of Jodi Scott's School of Horsemanship at her family's ranch, Papago North Stables. Jodi serves as co-director of the TRRFCC Horsemanship program and manages much of the public relations and curriculum development activities that are integral to the program. She is a lifetime horsewoman who was raised in both Wyoming and Arizona on her family's riding and ranch operations respectively. She has an Equine Management degree from Central Wyoming College and has a full weekly schedule of riding lessons and horses in training. She not only manages her own business as trainer/instructor, but is also the stable manager at Papago North Stables, which is home to nearly 60 stock animals including horses, cattle, and mules. She is the consummate people person, an ambassador of goodwill to clients, to boarders, and to business partners. Her nearly 20 years of experience in the horse - and people - business is one of our most valuable assets and we are excited to have her expertise give our program the credibility it deserves.

Liz Covert - Instructor

Liz is a busy mother of four school-aged boys who is a tireless advocate for quality kids' programs. She serves as co-director for our program and manages fundraising, sponsorship and grant writing duties. She volunteers at Horseshoe Trails Elementary school as a school aid, she has served on the PTO, and likes to spend her free time with her 4 boys. With what little time is left in her day, she is busy completing her Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. If you don't find her at any of these tasks, you can certainly find her doing other fun stuff like cooking, craft, and of course, horseback riding! Liz's enthusiasm and dedicated volunteerism will help reinforce TRRFCC Horsemanship's vision and mission and help the program become a Character Counts model for other schools both locally and nationally.

Angie Burton - Classroom Teacher/Instructor

Angie Burton is the newest member of the TRRFCC Horsemanship program at Horse Shoe Trails Elementary School; she comes on board as our classroom teacher. Angie was born and raised in Hooper, Utah. As a first-generation cowgirl she became fascinated with the western way of life and all it had to offer. She started competing in Jr. Posse at age 12, was a member of the Utah High School Rodeo Association, and went on to be Miss Rodeo Utah in 1999. Angie has always had a love for working with children… She, along with her horse, was a 10 year volunteer for Freedom Riders; an equestrian program working with disabled children. She served on the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo committee where she started and organized the Special Kids Rodeo for 6 years. She’s a graduate of Weber State University with a degree in Communication. Angie moved to Arizona in 2005; she enjoys team roping, giving riding lessons, spin classes and running. Angie is currently perusing her Masters in Education through Northern Arizona University.
